Kim Kardashian and Beyonce “Bonded” and Danced Together Backstage After Atlantic City Concert

20120601-090300.jpg

Ever since Kim Kardashian started dating Kanye West, there have been rumors floating around that Beyonce (Kanye’s “sister-in-law” through his friendship with her husband Jay-Z) wants nothing to do with Kim and her family … and she issued a stern warning that the reality TV star is NOT to infiltrate her “circle” of friends.

But it turns out those were just silly rumors (as usual) … because according to US Weekly, Beyonce actually invited Kim and her BFF Brittny Gastineau backstage to one of her highly publicized comeback concerts this past weekend in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Kim watched the show from a luxury sky box, and afterward, went backstage to meet and hang out with Beyonce and her touring crew.

US Weekly reported that Beyonce and Kim “were seen greeting each other with an embrace and dancing together.”

“Kim thought it was such a great show,” a source told the magazine. “There’s always some random rumors there is tension between them and there totally isn’t! Kim had so much fun.”

Kim later took to her Twitter to talk about how much fun she had at the show, and what it felt like being backstage with Beyonce:

“Just walked backstage through Beyonces dressing room…no big deal….haha..surreal moment”

Sounds like Kim is officially down with the Beyhive now!

Beyonce FANS Go Ham On Jay Z ‘Decoded’ Writer’s Daughter Forcing Her To Quit Twitter

20120530-182533.jpg

This is so sad. I was over on The Jasmine Brand and saw this article about Beyonce stans going in on Dream Hamptons daughter. Of course some of you are wondering who is she? Dream Hampton is a writer/hip-hop journalist she’s well known for writing Jay-Z’s “Decoded”, as well as her work in The Source, Spin, Vibe, along w/ with her close relationship with the late Christopher Wallace. You’ve got to read the story about what happened!!! It’s a lesson for us all!!!

On Tuesday night, Dream Hampton made a Twitter Service Announcement (TSA), sharing that she was quitting twitter. Why you ask? In short, Dream had posted a photo that she had snapped of her daughter Nina and Beyonce backstage at her Revel concert (see above). A Beyonce fan found the photo, tweeted it and made negative comment about Nina’s appearance.

That photo and tweet, began spiraling when other Beyonce fans and stans commented on how unattractive Dream’s daughter was, one even calling her ugly. In a series of tweets, Dream explains the entire story, ending it with explaining why she’s decided to throw up her middle finger and exit stage left. She wrote:

Because someone tumbld a pic of my daughter w/Bey, which I posted on FB, which I try to keep private, I’m now dealing w/tweets like these…These are early 20 something Beyonce stans coming for my teenager. I’m done here. It’s been real. Let me shut down this Twitter account. I’ve been wanting to for a while. It’s been real. I posted a pic of my daughter & our friend Beyonce on my very private Facebook page. Everyday, I turn down “friend” requests on FB. I turn them down because I post pics of my daughter on FB for ramily and friends I actually know. Twitter is a more public space for me.

On Twitter, I refer to my daughter as “awesome daughter” because she is, and because I’m private. I don’t know if I don’t know how to set whatever new privcacy settings you have to set on Facebook, but that pic ended up on a tumblr. I don’t search tumblr, or even know if you can search tumblr, but I Twitter search my own name pretty frequently at least twice a week… Last night, after tweeting abt summer reading lists & the challenging day I had to face today, I searched my name on Twitter. What I found was a Bey “stan” page who’d tweeted the pic of my daughter and Bey from some other Bey “stan” tumblr w/the comment “ewww”…This Twitter Bey stan latter reposted the same pic on Twitter w/my daughter cropped out, then RT’d s’one’s comment abt being grateful+..”ugly girl” was cropped out.

I tweeted this Beyonce “stan” asking how the fuk they got the pic (I hadnt made the connection to the tumblr) + …and asked them to remove the pic. This stan, of course, RT’d my irate tweet, tweeted she was dying of laughter & a bunch of her 7K + …fellow stans tweeted me. One began following me and when I immediately blocked her, called my daughter an Ugly ass in all caps. For those of you who know me, you know I’m not really here for you to be tweeting me, in all kaps, what an ugly ass my child is. Like, I’m really not here for that. I talked to Beyonce after her last show last night, we were worried Nina would see Beyonce’s so called fans calling a teenager ugly and Bey+ decided to remind my daughter what she thinks of her. So Bey posted the pic of my daughter & her on her tumblr & wrote “beautiful princess”…I’ve made amazing connections on Twitter, have been intellectually stimulated and have discovered amazing thinkers.

But yes, I’m done. My leaving Twitter is not blog worthy. I wasn’t “run off” by a few people calling themselves Beyonce stans. Or whatever. But I am good on social media, and the access it affords nuts, and the false intimacy that created boundary crossing. I’ve had false Twitter exits before, this isn’t one of them. Wishing you all love. I’m so grateful for all these replies. Twitter has always been more loving than hateful, but more distracting than anything. For the last time…I’m not leaving Twitter because I was ran off. The shit is turning into Myspace and I’m good. Ok, Peace. Free Mumia.

Jay-Z and Beyonce Warn Rihanna

20120530-100622.jpgBeyonce and Jay are warning Rihanna that if she doesn’t cut all off all ties with Chris Brown she will not be allowed near their new baby daughter, Blue Ivy.

Rihanna has been going through a lot of drama recently due to her decision to keep in contact with her ex, Chris Brown. Like any good friends would do, Jay and B don’t want Ri Ri around someone who could be a bad influence on her, someone who has already physically abused her.

Jay-Z not only helped Rihanna get a record deal, he’s also been like a big brother towards her; so he’s warning her, and if she decides not to listen to him he doesnt want her around his baby girl.

One source says that the couple have stated that they ‘want Blue to have positive role models, not someone who’d take back a man who hit her’.

What do you think of all this?

The Dream and Russell Simmons Defend Gwyneth Paltrow After She Tweets The ‘N-Word’

20120606-085026.jpg

Jay-z and Kanye West’s ‘Watch The Throne’ track, ‘Niggas In Paris’ is a worldwide hit that has managed to transcend past the cultural barrier of the African American community, so is it really a surprise when there is a stadium full of non-black fans in Paris that are singing ‘N-gga’ when the song comes on? Earlier this week, Gwyneth Paltrow, who is good friends with Beyonce and Jay-z, was torn a new one on twitter when she tweeted, ‘Ni**as in paris for real @mrteriusnash (the dream) tyty, beehigh‘ during the ‘Watch The Throne’ Concert where Jay and Kanye performed the track 11 times in a row.

After a few folks checked her about it on twitter, she responded, ‘Hold Up, It’s the title of the song‘.

Days later, The Dream found himself defending Gwyneth on twitter while stating that the African American community is beginning to give the word too much power:

[unedited] Yall still on that s–t! Yall Give “N—a To Much power” somewhere the actual racist People are Laughing there asses off, so much energy. Let that Word hold power over me but yet use it as Power. Those same slaves Great,Great grands are Wiser now and Free! I’m not Saying don’t forget but be logical and use common sense. If it meant the Same as it Did then WE wouldn’t use it, that would make us ignorant We USE IT because Evidently it doesn’t mean the same if u really give a s–t u stop using it. Sure Attack her you know she’s not going to do anything, you know in your heart she didn’t mean it in anyway. The world is just full of Bull s–tters who act like they give a s–t haven’t did one righteous act in there lives. Its a Hot Topic because people aint got s–t To Do! Period. Say what u want. No one called Trayvon N—a before he shot him it was an action. Racism is an Action! What! WE GIVE THE WORD TO MUCH POWER! Any way N—az! What’s GOOD

Russell also came to Gwyneth’s defense in a blog posted on Global Grind:

In the case of “N*ggas in Paris,” it is clear that these two poets are celebrating the fact that they now travel the world and are literally ballin’ in Paris … it started as a badge of honor, something to be proud of, something to poke their chests out at. Because for them, when they were kids, Paris was a million miles away and now it’s a private jet ride. The idea of being in Paris with a movie star, whether she’s black or white, is incredible!

There is something truly inspiring about black culture and black music, hip-hop culture and hip-hop music. No matter what color skin you might have, there is an overriding good effect that this music has on you. It is contagious. It was this explosive expression that spread out of the inner cities of America into the walkmans of kids like Gwyneth Paltrow during their childhoods in 1980s and 1990s. It allowed white kids to begin to sympathize with the plight of many in black America. Having any Hollywood starlet at your concert was unimaginable, and having her quote your lyrics as a badge of honor that she was hanging out with you, you never would have dreamed of that – until your poetry hit the market and changed the world.

So, for Gwyneth to tweet out her excitement about hip-hop taking over the planet is a good thing. She didn’t mean any harm, she just was trying to ball so hard, and like Jay-Z says, “motherf*ckers can’t fine” her.

The other day, I was sitting in the back of a cab with a friend (our cab driver was not black) and the friend used the word, ‘N-gga’ at least 30 times throughout the ride and I cringed each time. How can a race of people get in such an uproar over a word but willingly and openly sling it around at each other and expect people outside of the culture to not get confused? As African Americans, we feel entitled to use the word in everyday language amongst each other and in music but what happens when the music goes Global. How do you explain to fans, who have never been exposed to African American history, that it’s not alright to say those words, even if it’s the title of your favorite song. Yes, Gwyneth knew better..but did she really?

The only real way to stop the confusion is to eliminate the word from our vocabularies [I agree with The Dream]. No one should be entitled to use it, and it definitely shouldn’t be in the title of your favorite songs. But even that suggestion is like beating a dead horse..

Michelle Obama Attends Beyonce Concert with Daughters Sasha and Malia

20120530-113333.jpg

Among the 5,500 fans at Beyonce‘s opening night show at the Revel Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey Friday night (May 25) was First Lady Michelle Obama and her two young daughters Sasha and Malia.

A source backstage told the New York Daily News that word of First Lady’s Obama’s appearance started spreading shortly before the concert took place at the $2.4 billion Atlantic City resort.

“People backstage kept saying, her good friend Michelle is coming,” said the source. “I thought they meant Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child.”

Though Presiden Obama didn’t attend, the First Lady and the First Daughters had plenty of company, as they were reportedly joined by Oprah’s BFF Gayle King, and a group of 13-year-old Malia and 10-year-old Sasha’s friends.

While Beyonce sang “Irreplaceable,” concert attendees say that Mrs. Obama and her girls were mimicking the “to the left, to the left” finger gestures that Beyonce does in the video.

Eyewitnesses say the also Obamas danced to “Single Ladies,” the last song in Beyonce’s over two-hour set.

Mrs. Obama’s appearance at Beyonce’s concert isn’t that surprising either, as the First Lady and Beyonce have both recently expressed a great deal of mutual admiration for each other.

Last month, Beyonce wrote in an open letter posted to her official website that Mrs. Obama was the ultimate example of a strong African American woman.

And just last week, The First Lady told People Magazine that if she could be anyone else, she would want to be Beyonce. “If I had some gift, I’d be Beyoncé,” she said. “I’d be some great singer.”

And, as The Associated Press noted, she came pretty close, judging by the audience’s reception when she walked into the Revel Resort Friday night:

The first lady got a roaring cheer that matched Beyonce’s as she made her way to her seat in a shiny green dress. Some fans took photos while others screamed her name. One yelled, “This is history!

Beyonce’s four Atlantic City concerts this weekend are her first since giving birth in January to her first child Blue Ivy Carter, her daughter with her husband, rapper Jay-Z.

The fourth and final sold out concert takes place on the night of Memorial Day (Monday, May 28th).

Beyonce’s Biggest Rival: Rihanna?

On a talent tip, their skills couldn’t be any further apart-with one having lots of it and the other renowned for her lack of it.

However, perhaps down to the genius of Beyonce‘s husband Jay Z, Rihanna has become one of the world’s most Popular acts- joining Knowles’ to become the only two ‘black’ singers with unquestionable ‘crossover’ appeal.

Yes, while she is yet to score a #1 LP or match Knowles’ critical feats, the last four years have seen the pair pitted against each other- their sales scrutinized and compared- the ‘mentor/student’ they were alleged to have had thrown into disrepute.

WHATS NEXT FOR BEYONCE?

In 2011, three years after the release of ‘I Am..’, Beyonce delivered ‘4′- her first predominately R&B piece since 2003′s ‘Dangerously In Love‘.

Laced with Summer soaked medleys, stripped back ballads and Afro centric power jams, the project’s campaign was essentially cut short to make way for the star’s first child, Blue Ivy. This, despite marking the happiest time in Knowles’ life, also left many questions unanswered:

Would the album’s era continue well into 2012?

Would Blue’s arrival put B’s career on hiatus?

However, much to the relief of her fans, Knowles confirmed her return to the stage this month, readying a three day concert at New Jersey’s Revel Resorts in May.

As was to be expected, with this announcement came reports that a ‘re-boot’ of ’4′ was also on its way- with the promise of singles that would soar to heights their predecessors didn’t. Indeed, despite reaching #1, the album is yet to spawn a Billboard #1 Hot 100 single- meaning 2008′s ‘Single Ladies’ was single by Mrs. C to sit atop the coveted tally.

A fact, much of her ‘Beyhive’ resents.

So, with Rihanna turning up  the heat on a singles front and GaGa reportedly releasing  her fourth studio LP this year, we ask:

Jay-z Working On $150 Million Comeback World Tour For Beyonce?

Strong enough to bear the children then get back to business…

Is it too soon for Beyonce to get back to work? According to the NY Post, Jay-Z is already working on putting together a massive comeback world tour for Beyonce just months after given birth to Baby Blue Ivy. Sources say that a few weeks after the baby was born, Jay-z approached his buddies at Live Nation to propose a $150 million deal for the mega star to go on tour later this year. Beyonce is currently in a joint management deal with Jay-z’s Roc Nation as well as Live Nation after she split with her father/manager early last year.

Whether the tour will actually happen is still up in the air with Live Nation allegedly making a lower counter offer, but until that moment arrives, Beyonce is returning to the stage in just a few months. Just in time to kick the summer off right, she’s performing three exclusive shows during Memorial Day Weekend live on stage at the Revel Resort in Atlantic City.

Tickets go on sale April 6th for dates May 25th, May 26th and May 27th.
